Merlynux is in a Founding Author beta: a small number of people, invited by name, using software that is still being made. These are the terms of that arrangement, in plain language. They are a baseline for the beta and have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer; they will be replaced by full terms before Merlynux is sold generally.

Everything you bring to Merlynux and everything you make in it — recordings, documents, notes, the manuscript, the drafts — is yours. You keep every right to it. You give Merlynux only the permission it needs to do what you ask: to store your material, read it, transcribe it, find connections in it, and show it back to you and to the people you share a studio with. That permission ends when you delete the material or your account, apart from backups that roll off within seven days.
Merlynux does not train models on your work, does not claim authorship of anything, and does not publish, sell or license your material. Where Merlynux writes a suggestion, it enters your manuscript only if you accept it, and the manuscript records what was typed and what was suggested.
An invited account with the Author product: capture, the Library, the Laboratory, books, the Writing Desk, upload, recording and export, plus transcription minutes for the beta. There is no charge for this during the beta. It is early software: things will change under you, some things will be rough, and occasionally something will not work. We will tell you in the product when something important changes.
During the beta, transcription and reading run on a machine Merlynux operates. When it is asleep, new material is kept and read when it wakes; the product tells you when that is the case.
Use Merlynux for your own creative work, with material you have the right to use. Do not use it to store or process someone else’s private material without their permission, and do not try to reach other people’s studios or to interfere with the service. Keep your password to yourself. Tell us what breaks, confuses or delights you — that is what the beta is for.
You can stop any time: download everything from Settings and delete your account, and it is gone as the privacy notice describes. We can end or narrow a beta invitation too — for example if the beta closes, or the account is being misused. If we take the Author product away, your account and material stay and can still be downloaded; if we close an account, we will say so and give you the chance to download first, unless the law prevents it.
Merlynux is provided as it is, during a beta, without any promise that it will be available, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. We take backups and care, but you should keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. To the extent the law allows, Merlynux is not liable for loss arising from use of the beta.
These terms may change as the beta does. Material changes are announced in the product before they take effect. Questions: contact@fairycauldron.com.
