Merlynux

Privacy

Merlynux is built on a simple promise: the work you bring is yours. This page says exactly what we collect, what we do with it, who else touches it, and how to get rid of it.

What we collect

Your email addressTo create your account, sign you in, and send password resets.
Your nameOptional. Only used to address you in the interface.
What you upload — recordings, documents, notesThis is the material Merlynux reads to find and develop your book. It is the reason the product exists.
Transcripts and analysis derived from itChapter maps, source coverage, questions, and drafts are generated from your material and stored alongside it.
Usage of transcription minutesAudio transcription is metered, so we record how many minutes each account has used.
Payment recordsWhether you have an active plan and what you purchased. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach our servers.

We do not use tracking pixels, advertising identifiers, or third-party analytics that profile you across other sites.

What we don't do with it

We do not train AI models on your work. Your material is processed to produce your book and nothing else. It is not pooled with other users’ material, not used to improve a shared model, and not sold or licensed to anyone.

We do not read your material except where you ask us to (a support request you raise), or where we are legally required to.

Who else touches your data

Merlynux is assembled from a small number of processors. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job:

SupabaseStores your account, your uploaded files, and everything derived from them. Files live in a private bucket scoped to your workspace.
DeepgramTranscribes audio you upload. Receives the recording; returns text.
Google (Gemini) and Anthropic (Claude)Perform the reading and drafting. Receive excerpts of your material as part of a request; return analysis or prose.
StripeProcesses payment. Receives your card details directly — we never see or store them.
VercelHosts and serves the application.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time, from Settings on the web or in the iPhone app. Deletion is immediate and irreversible: it removes your account, your uploaded files, your transcripts, and every book, outline, and draft derived from them.

Payment records are retained where we are required to keep them for tax and accounting purposes. They contain no part of your written material.

Where your data lives

Data is stored and processed in the United States. If you use Merlynux from elsewhere, your material is transferred there.

Children

Merlynux is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we do with your material, we will say so — by email to the address on your account, before the change takes effect.
